Description
The project consisted of the comprehensive technical and environmental supervision of the rehabilitation of the Cotoca – Pailón (Paraíso) road section. The supervision ensured the execution of the works in accordance with engineering standards, technical specifications, and current environmental regulations. Technical Scope of Supervision The supervision included a rigorous control of: Review and Validation of Design Studies: Geotechnical: Verification of the characterization of the subsoil (subgrade, subbase, base) and test results (SPT, CBR, Modified Proctor). Pavement Design: Analysis of the pavement structure, thicknesses, material properties (granulometry, Atterberg limits, Marshall tests/resistance to compression) and compliance with road design regulations. Hydraulic and Drainage: Review of the capacity of longitudinal and transverse drainage systems (ditches, culverts, subdrains). Technical Supervision of Civil Works Execution: Earthworks: Control of cuts, fills, subgrade formation, and compaction densities. Granular Subbase and Base: Inspection of quality, granulometry, optimum moisture, and compaction degree. Pavement Layers: Flexible (Asphaltic): Supervision of manufacturing (mixing, temperatures, binder dosage), spreading, compaction (field density), and asphalt quality. Rigid (Concrete): Control of concrete quality (compressive strength, settlement), steel reinforcement, vibration, curing, and joint sealing. Drainage Works: Inspection of ditches, culverts, and subdrains. Road Signaling and Safety: Verification of the installation of horizontal/vertical signage and safety barriers according to road regulations. Environmental Supervision: Monitoring of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP): Verification of compliance with mitigation and compensation measures of the Environmental License. Impact Control: Supervision of waste management, erosion, air quality, and protection of water bodies. The supervision was crucial to ensure a safe, durable, and environmentally responsible road infrastructure, improving connectivity in the region.
